Anti-Racist Seminar Series & Anti-Racist Practice

Anti-Racist Seminar Series (LIve and Pre-recorded):

A Therapist Like Me is offering a pre-recorded Anti-Racist Seminar Series and a live version with an additional Anti-Racist Practice for anti-racist practitioners across all fields. For the Anti-Racist Seminar Series (pre-recorded and live), we will join BIPoC, anti-racist consultants for 60-90 minutes speaking on unlearning, establishing an anti-racist practice, white supremacy culture, and ways we miss seeing people of color. This is not an interactive format for pre-recorded or live participants (why isn’t it interactive?).

Want to know about your presenters?

Anti-Racist Practice (live only):

The Anti-Racist Practice following each seminar is an interactive format with a small group, break-out session of 2-4 people. For the Anti-Racist Practice Facilitated Meeting, Catie will provide you with guidelines, examples, demonstrations, and space for you to break out into small groups to practice processing the content delivered in the Anti-Racist Seminar in a nuanced, paced, and attuned way. More on the Anti-Racist Practice:

The Anti-Racist Practice portion of the series is the last 60-90 minutes of each session and is facilitated by Catie Beaulieu, LCMHC, MBA. The Practice consists of 3 parts:

  • 1) Each Anti-Racist Practice begins with a facilitated meeting where all participants who are enrolled in the LIVE Anti-Racist Seminar Series and Anti-Racist Practice are invited to be. Your facilitator, Catie will provide additional practice information, guidelines, and demonstrations.

  • 2) From the Anti-Racist Practice facilitated meeting, participants will be invited to join an Anti-Racist Practice Break-Out Session with other participants. Your Anti-Racist Practice Break-Out Session, with others, will allow you to both witness and be witnessed in a space of people engaged in anti-racist practice (BIPoC folx will have the choice to be with all BIPoC people). With a lot of support, intention, and pausing to check-in, your anti-racist practice can support recognizing the somatic sense of racism, racial trauma, racial trauma triggers, white fragility, and gaslighting even when you can’t identify why.

  • 3) In addition, you will be invited to participate in an Anti-Racist Practice Group which will take place outside of the series, on your own time, to continue the practice, process content that you learned, witness others, provide and receive support, reflect, somatically experience, and engage in the practice of anti-racism. This group will consist of 2-4 people and the groups will be made based on preferences you make in a survey which will be sent out Tuesday, 10/25 (corrected from 10/14). Preferences may include, but not be limited to working with BIPoC or white bodies, scheduling needs, experience with anti-racism work, your field, age, etc. We will work to attend to your needs and preferences in inviting people to form a group. The recommended meeting time for this group is once a week for 1-hour, but of course this can look different for each person and group. While we plan to keep the Anti-Racist Practice Group the same throughout the seminar series, we reserve the right to invite different configurations of groups. If you are in a group that is changed, you will have access to a lot of conversation and support from your facilitator.

During facilitation with Catie and anywhere when both white and BIPoC bodies will be present, white fragility, tears, and intentions will NOT be held.
